Dangjin is a central city on the Pan-Yellow Sea Rim.

Dangjin is on its way to enjoying its former glory as a port city that played an important role in the trade between Korea and the Tang Dynasty of Ancient China. As a port and logistics city with strong agricultural and industrial sectors located on the west coast, Dangjin is emerging as a bridge for Korea-China trade and as a central city on the Pan-Yellow Sea Rim.

Dangjin is a city of tourism, culture and the arts.

Dangjin hosts the Gijisi Juldarigi Festival centering on the tug-of-war game with 500 years of tradition that was played to wish for an abundant harvest and to promote harmony and solidarity. It also contains Solmoe Holy Ground, which was the birthplace of the first Korean-born Catholic priest, Andrew Kim Taegon, Sin-ri Holy Ground that served as the root of the Korean Catholic Church, and many other Catholic sites.
