Introduction
Nanji Island is a luxurious healing island full of maritime romance and as such comes highly recommended by Suga, a member of the world-renowned ‘BTS’. The name ‘Nanji’ originated from the words nancho (orchid) and jicho (gromwell) in an old quote ‘Jinanjigyo’ that emphasizes friendship like orchid and gromwell which influences those around them with their clear and refreshing fragrance. Nanji Island has a well-developed sandy beach with a gentle slope, making it ideal for swimming. With its clear water and fine sand ,Nanji Island Beach is known as the East Sea (renowned for its crystal-clear water in Korea) in the West Sea. It was selected as: one of the top 10 luxury islands in Korea in 2010, as an excellent beach (by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries) in 2015, and (by the Korea Tourism Organization) as a non-face-to-face safe tourist destination for the 2021 summer season.
Additionally, this quiet island village, connected to Dobi Island via a boat trip of approx. 20mins, is also a perfect family travel destination. If you take a passenger ferry to Daenanji Island, the panorama of the West Sea archipelago, famous for its breathtaking scenery with the flock of seagulls following the ferry will offer you an unforgettable experience. As the time flies while you admire the scenic views of the West Sea archipelago, you will soon arrive on the island’s beach, where its pine forests and white sand envelopes the coast in its half-moon embrace. It is a beautiful island where you can enjoy a variety of activities, from swimming to fishing and clam catching.
Nature on Nanji Island is a clean and pristine ecological treasure trove, where endangered species such as prickly waterlily and beach roses grow and is also the home of black-headed plovers, one of the natural symbols of Korea. The island has rich mudflats that offer an abundant harvest to migratory birds and these, along with the large number of uninhabited islands in the surrounding seas, make this an ideal environment for them.
Additionally, the rocks near the beach provide a popular spot for professional anglers, while the rocky coast to the northwest of the beach is a famous sea fishing spot where rockfish, greenlings, etc. are easily caught. Moreover, the 400m ‘Nanji Daegyo Bridge’ connecting Sonanji and Daenanji Islands, opened in October 2021, makes travel between the islands by car or on foot an easy matter.

There is a well-used campsite on Nanji Island. This has the great advantage of its economical charges while offering well-maintained facilities that are every bit as good as those on private camping sites.

Nanji Daegyo Bridge connects Sonanji Island, where the Nanji Island dock is located, and Daenanji Island, where there is a beach which: with its clear water, clean sand, and warm waters, is perfect for swimming.

Yongmot Park is located in Nanji Island Tourist Park. Here you can enjoy beautiful scenery.
